Upcycling: tray makeover - faux tile

I gave another item from my kitchen a makeover.

This old tray had seen better days.

My original plan was to spray paint the handles and frame black and the inside tray white. I was then going to paint a simple black design on the white tray. Well, the black paint seeped onto the white, then the white onto the black. I ditched the idea and went to Plan B.

I found an image of some pretty tile online and printed out several “tiles” onto a light cardstock. I cut out the tiles and Mod Podged them onto the tray covering up the messed up paint.

I’m glad my original plan didn’t work because I love my new faux tile tray.

  23. I love the way the tray looks with the tiles. Its really awesome and I think I am going to do something like this for my grandma as a Christmas gift!

I gotta say tho...it'd really suck if that duck tray was some sort of antique that might have brought in a looot of money in its original state. LOL
