Celebrations: it takes a glitter village

Every year I like to change up my holiday décor. Some years have been all natural elements but this year I’ve gone glitter crazy!

I made a glitter village using dollar store collectible village pieces and snowy trees.

Blog Glitter Village1. Here are the original village pieces. At a dollar each, I wish I had bought more {I say that every time I buy things at the dollar store}! 2. A couple coats of white spray paint to give myself a blank canvas. 3. Starting the detail work.

Before I glittered the pieces, I used Martha Stewart Multi Surface Craft paint in the pearl finish. The color above is Antique Silk {pink} and I also used Eclipse {lavender}.

The gold trees were created using Tulip Dimensional Fabric Glitter. This product comes in a squeeze bottle so that you can draw on fabric but it worked perfectly to create dimensional glitter trees.

Once the Martha Stewart pearl paint was dry, I added a top coat of Martha Stewart Coarse Glitter craft paint in Sugar Cube to give the roof and trim some shimmer.

The rooftop of this piece was painted with Folkart Extreme Glitter acrylic paint in Confetti.

The white siding was covered in Mod Podge and dusted with Tulip white glitter. The snow on the eaves was created with Tulip Dimensional Fabric Glitter Paint.

I love this little glitter village. It makes me want to set up a little glitter train track.

Thanks for visiting.

  13. Wow! What a makeover....I saw those houses at the dollar store and put them back because I thought their was no hope for them. I absolutely love your version with the soft colors and pops of festive gold. These look like they came out of a swanky boutique!

    Gorgeous!
