Homework Dress Code: holiday style with No nonsense

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of No nonsense for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have to confess, although I used to be really stylish and into clothes my everyday-work-from-home style has become boring. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to make an effort to break free from my typical yoga pants and t-shirt uniform.

When I was presented with the opportunity to review No nonsense tights and leggings I actually hesitated for a little while. After all, when you’re wearing a t-shirt with holes in it and your hair is in a messy ponytail, you don’t feel like the voice of authority on fashion.

But it got me thinking. I have a closet full of pretty clothes. All I have to do is make a little effort to pull some outfits together instead of reaching for the same go-to outfits that I wear everyday. And with the holidays in full swing, it’s the perfect time to resolve to be more stylish.

When I opened up my box I laughed because the tights that I was sent were black fishnets. Talk about a departure from my everyday boring look. But I’m up for the challenge. I dug deep in my closet and came up with an outfit that I would be comfortable in for New Year’s Eve.

Clockwise from bottom left: The little black dress I chose is super comfortable jersey dress that I wear a lot. It’s not fitted and drapes really nicely. And since the fishnets are edgy, I chose my favorite classic black suede pumps. Vintage jewelry to add a little color and sparkle. My black and gold coat that I love to wear during the holidays. A little black evening bag.

The fishnets are fun and I’m even thinking that I could wear them in the daytime with a skirt and boots.

The leggings that I received are basic black. My absolute favorite. Just like yoga pants, they’re super comfortable and look good with anything. For New Year’s Day, here’s what I chose.

Clockwise from bottom left:  A long pink cashmere sweater. I like to wear long shirts and sweaters with leggings – no explanation needed. My favorite black and white striped raincoat. Vintage silver jewelry from the 1970’s. A basic black leather purse. My black granny boots to give the outfit a little pizzazz.

The best part is that No nonsense tights and leggings are available in the market and at drug stores. They’re super affordable making my new stylish resolution easier on the wallet. No nonsense has been around for as long as I can remember and it’s always exciting to rediscover a brand that you’re familiar with. Especially when the brand remakes itself with new a new look, new products and a new face.

Jill Martin is the new Ambassador and Style Expert for the launch of the new tights and leggings. Jill is the co-author of the New York Times bestselling style guide “I Have Nothing to Wear!” She is also the New York Correspondent for Access Hollywood.

Here’s what Jill said about the new tights and leggings. “I am really loving the new look of the brand and all the new products,” said Jill Martin. “It’s always exciting when an established company remakes itself and I’m happy to be a part of it. The new tights and leggings are on-trend and very high quality without breaking the bank. They’re just my type of product!”

I’m so glad that I’ve rediscovered No nonsense. I’m planning on stocking up on lots of black leggings. But in keeping with my new year resolution, I won’t be pairing them with old t-shirts. Here’s to a fashionable new year!

  3. I'm so wanting to wear these with a long shirt. After having 5 kids, I think I would have to lose a few more lbs before I'd feel "public acceptable". ;)

  4. I understand the t-shirt, messy ponytail wardrobe - but how fun it is to dress up every once in awhile. Love all the leggins colors.
