Upcycling: pumpkin bottle birdfeeder

Bottle Bird Feeder 4A.png
Happy Halloween everyone! Today’s project is a recycled soda bottle birdfeeder. And since today is Halloween, once you’re done with your pumpkins you can save the stems, dry them out and make a fun pumpkin birdfeeder to enjoy through fall.

This little pumpkin has it’s seasons mixed up. Pretty paper flowers, twigs, berries and a feathered friend are perched on this pumpkin and will add a little spring color to my fall décor.

The Inspiration Board: link party spotlight ~73~

Are you ready for Halloween? I have a few last minute things to do but I’ll be ready by the time the little trick or treaters arrive at our door. I always wait to buy the candy until the last minute so that we don’t eat it all before Halloween. I also have to put out the spooky decorations, get more pumpkins and make a costume. OK, I confess, I’m not ready at all.

But I bet you are because you’ve been sharing all your wonderful creations on the Inspiration Board. Plus, all the beautiful fall ideas, wonderful recipes and more. Thank you to everyone who linked a project, stopped by to visit or left a comment. I truly appreciate each of you  Here are a few projects in the spotlight this week.

Celebrations: inspiration board halloween spotlight

Today I have a special edition of the spotlight to share with you. Halloween is almost here and this year the Halloween projects were so abundant and amazing that I compiled a round up of Halloween ideas. All of these projects were shared here on the Inspiration Board within the last few months. Please note, I started working on this treasury a few weeks ago so this round up doesn’t include projects from the last two link parties (sorry).

Thank you everyone for sharing your creativity. I hope you enjoy these fun Halloween ideas.

Good Taste: chocolate tea bag tags

Well, the weather was turning to fall and I thought some hot tea would be nice. But then we had a sudden last burst of summer. So let me start off this post with some advice – don’t make these chocolates on a hot day and try to take pictures of them next to a hot cup of tea. Both you and the chocolates will be melting before long.

The Inspiration Board: link party spotlight ~72~

Happy Friday and welcome to the Inspiration Board Spotlight. If you linked up a project this week, thank you so much for sharing. We’re having a late blast of hot summer weather here in Southern California so I am especially enjoying all the Fall and Halloween projects that I’m seeing. I’m also filing away all the cold weather recipes that you shared and wishing for cool fall weather. I hope wherever you are you’re enjoying the season.

In the meantime, as I patiently wait for fall, here are a few projects in the spotlight this week.

pincushionI love embroidery hoop projects and this embroidery hoop pin cushion by Yellow Spool is so pretty. What a great idea. You can hang it or lay it flat. Either way, it’s such a sweet place to house your pins.

The Dirt: a nursery and new elm tree

I recently posted about our poor front yard white birch tree and it’s untimely end. So sad but I do have a huge supply of twigs and branches for projects. I also mentioned that I was on the hunt for a new tree for our front yard.

Fall is definitely in the air. Literally where I live. I love summer - I really do but the last month has been so hot it felt like an endless summer. Finally there's a crisp cool feeling in the morning and the evening. I love it! Now that I'm feeling fall, I'm even more excited to see what you have been creating.

Celebrations: glowing eyes treat bag

I had so much fun making my Halloween Spooky Jars that I wanted to make another glow-in-the-dark project. This one is a little more kid friendly and not as scary as those darn spooky jars that keep watching me all day.

The Dirt: twigs, branches and a new tree

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

In the past, I’ve made several projects using twigs and branches. Most of the twigs came from the White Birch tree that was in our front yard and provided shade for our dining room bay window. Sadly, our birch tree died. I kept hoping it would come back but it was not to be.

I had someone help take it out and asked him to save me all the branches and twigs. I knew what was coming. When my husband got home he gave me that look. You know the one…

Celebrations: halloween scary jars

Since I don’t have little kids in the house I can decorate a little bit more ghoulish for Halloween. I’ve seen various spins on pictures in jars and scary altered portraits and I thought I’d combine the two ideas and make some Halloween Scary Jars.

homework [tips]: how to remove a rust stain

Blog Rust RemoverPhoto Sources: photo 1photo 2, photo 3photo 4

I love crisp white linens and towels - like these beautiful vintage linens found on Pinterest. Nothing looks cleaner than bright whites. Unless of course, you get a stain. Most stains can be removed with a spot remover or by bleaching the heck out of it. But not a rust stain.

Celebrations: cornhusk & white pumpkins

It’s October! I’m officially bringing out the pumpkins. This year, I wanted to do something different with my pumpkin décor and keep things natural. So where do you start to get that true natural pumpkin look? At the dollar store, of course.
