Fresh Look: painted basket {faux dipped}

Painted Basket {faux dip dye} via homework (2)I saw some pretty paint dipped baskets on the Martha Stewart craft of the day. Such a fun way to jazz up some plain baskets.

Upcycling: syrup bottle to aqua pitcher

Upcycled Syrup Pitcher via homework (9)Do you like my new rare antiquity? Or at least I can pretend it’s an antiquity. It’s not as convincing as I had envisioned it would be but it’s still a fun faux upcycle project.

INKLING: PATRIOTIC BERRY CUPS

Easy Patriotic Berry Cups via homework02Today in the United States, it’s Memorial Day – a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. And while we honor and remember these brave men and women, the long weekend also signifies the unofficial start to summer and backyard gatherings.

FRESH LOOK: ANTICIPATING SUMMER WITH AQUA & TEXTURE

THE DIRT: THE GRO PROJECT

This post brought to you by Miracle-Gro. All opinions are 100% mine.

Spring Vegetables via homework (7)-001Last week I showed you my little Japanese Spring Garden Seedlings. I’ve been taking really good care of them and I’m so excited about the possibility of actually harvesting these yummy veggies. The seedlings are Kabocha, Japanese Eggplant and Japanese Cucumber. You can read more about these vegetables here.

GOOD TASTE: BLACK & WHITE CUPCAKES

Black & White Cupcakes by homeworkI’m trying to learn how to frost cupcakes so that they’re oooh and ahhh worthy. This is my first attempt at the swirl technique. I definitely need some more practice but thankfully I had some pretty cupcake holders to detract from my mediocre frosting skills. The cupcake is in a black & white polka dot baking cup and then nestled in a beautiful pearl paper floral cupcake wrapper.

GOOD TASTE: A ZESTY GRILLED ASPARAGUS SANDWICH

Kraft sent me a bottle of the product to review, but they haven’t reviewed or approved what I wrote below. All opinions are mine. Enjoy!

Kraft Zesty 8Do I have a treat for you today. I made the most delicious sandwich the other day with the complimentary bottle of Kraft Zesty Italian Anything Dressing I received. When I was chosen to review this product, I wanted to create something outside of my normal cooking box. Something that I wouldn’t usually cook at home but I would order at a restaurant. I came up with a grilled asparagus sandwich that was out of this world good.

EXTRA CREDIT: COLORFUL AND MODERN STYLE {#CB2NovogratzBrasilSweepstakes}

This post brought to you by CB2. All opinions are 100% mine.

I wanted to let you know about this great opportunity to win a dream trip to Brasil and see a beautiful collection of pieces inspired by the beauty of Brasil.

CB2 is definitely a source of creative inspiration. Whether your style leans toward vintage or modern it’s hard not to be inspired by the clean and colorful style that CB2 offers. CB2 has now partnered with the husband and wife design team Robert and Cortney Novogratz. As seen on their popular TV home design shows, they are all about a mix of modern and vintage with a playful edge.

THE INSPIRATION BOARD: LINK PARTY SPOTLIGHT ~102~

Happy Friday everyone! Another creative week has flown by. We had a busy week at our house. We survived a prom, had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration, plus the regular hectic daily schedule, including sports practices and the end of season sport’s banquet {and guess who is team mom?}. I made several bouquets for the banquet out of beautiful sunny yellow sunflowers, hydrangeas, spider mums and more. I didn’t post them here but posted the photo to Instagram. I just joined Instagram – can you believe it? You can follow me here if you’d like.

Blog Scrub RoundupAnd, in case you didn’t have a chance to stop by this week, here’s what I shared. My Asian Spring Vegetable Garden, A Facial Scrub Round Up and a Sympathy Card.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and linked up their projects this week. There were some problems with the linky this week and the linky people are working on fixing the issue. If you had trouble linking up I’m so sorry. I hope you come back next week and try again. I’d love to see your projects.

As always, there were so many beautiful projects and I was so inspired by the pops of color. Here are the projects in the spotlight this week.

Good Taste: warm, flip, serve {ps don’t forget the cake}

This post brought to you by Private Selection. All opinions are 100% mine.

929CAD3B-C290-29B7-424693FE7B51A28CWhat can be better than homemade cake still warm from the oven? I love making cakes – for a family treat, or a dessert to take school events or gatherings with friends. But lately, I’m finding I have less and less time to whip up a cake even one from a mix.

Store-bought cakes are great in a pinch but you still can’t beat that warm-from-the-oven sensation.

Tiki Torch 4I’ve been working on sprucing up our backyard in anticipation of summer fun and barbeques.

Inkling: sympathy card

Sympathy Card 2I usually love making handmade cards. Of course, there’s that rare occasion when there’s no joy in making a card.

Show & Tell: homemade scrub round up

Blog Scrub RoundupLast week I shared with you a honey mask for a Mother’s Day gift idea. You can see it here or at the bottom of this post. While I was researching masks and scrubs I was overwhelmed with the variety of beautiful homemade scrubs and rounded up a few to share with you. Scrubs are easy to make and you feel so pampered treating yourself to a little spa treatment. I think we all deserve to take a moment for ourselves. Who’s with me?

Celebrations: honey facial mask {easy mother’s day gift}

Honey Facial Mask via homework (7)Facial scrubs and mask are always popular and recently I’ve been seeing so many pretty diy homemade scrub ideas for Mother’s Day. One of the recipes that caught my eye was based on honey and I loved the idea – mainly because I had everything I needed in my cupboard.

Fresh Look: cookbook cover

Cookbook 11You know those little things in your house that bug you? Maybe it’s a picture frame that doesn’t quite match or electrical cords that have become part of the décor. I have a ton of those little things all over the house.

Good Taste: sugar free satisfaction

You know that sweet craving you get? Not the “oh-my-gosh” I have to have a giant piece of cake craving. That little sweet craving you get but you can’t figure out what to have? I’ve found my answer. Actually, this has been my answer for a long time.

Celebrations: cinco de mayo round up

This year Cinco de Mayo snuck up on me. Wasn’t it just Cinco de Abril? I didn’t prepare any fun and festive Cinco de Mayo projects so rather than throw a craft or recipe together, I thought I’d do round up of some of the prettiest Cindo de Mayo ideas I’ve seen.

Little Craft: fuzzy animals

Fuzzy Animals 2I love picking up those bags of plastic animals at the dollar store. I’ve painted some and even glitterized some. And at a dollar for a bag of animals, these make great kid crafts.
