ETCETERAS: a winter centerpiece

Winter Centerpiece via homework | carolynshomework.comI failed so miserably with Christmas décor this year that I had to do some post-holiday winterizing. Between my new day job and being away almost every weekend at my son’s volleyball tournaments we just didn’t have time to haul out the Christmas décor. Add to that the fact that it’s been almost 80 degrees here in Southern California and I almost feel like it wasn’t the holiday season.

Winter Centerpiece via homework | carolynshomework.comI finally had a free weekend and made something pretty and wintery for the dining room table.

Winter Centerpiece via homework | carolynshomework.comThe tiny beeswax candles are Hanukkah candles from the holiday clearance shelf. I love them.

Winter Centerpiece via homework | carolynshomework.comI didn’t have any candle holders small enough for the little candles, so I made do with a vase filled with Epsom salts, a vintage spool and a small bottle.

Winter Centerpiece via homework | carolynshomework.comThe fresh greenery is Seeded Eucalyptus from the floral department at the market.

Winter Centerpiece via homework | carolynshomework.comIt feels so good to have something fresh to focus on. It made me realize that even if the rest of the house is a disaster, one little centerpiece can really brighten a room and your spirits.

Winter Centerpiece via homework | carolynshomework.comLife can get very busy and hectic but it’s nice to take a little time to do something that will make you happy.

Thanks for visiting.
