UPCYCLING: Faux Galvanized Metal Box

Faux Galvanized Finish with Tin Foil via homework | carolynshomework Here is Southern California, or at least in my city, there’s a plastic bag ban. That’s fine. I’m all for eliminating those plastic bags. But if I want a paper bag when I go to the grocery store, I have to pay for it. In other words, it’s BYOB or Bring Your Own Bag. I miss my brown paper grocery bags. I used them for everything. Covering books, crafting, and putting recycling in.

The Dirt: faux metal plant sticks

I came across the most amazing faux metal wall art at Suzy’s Artsy Crafty Sitcom.  Of course, I had to try to make some. Here’s a shout out to Suzy because mine are in the trash.

I did have a few strips of the paper towel rolls left so I decided to make one last attempt. I curled the paper towel roll strips and glued them onto a stick to make plant sticks. And like Suzy’s wall art, I spray painted them using black metallic paint.

If you want to give someone a plant as a gift, these would make nice gift tag holders. Just tie your gift tag to the plant stick or use them with herb plants to identify your herbs.

I’m glad I didn’t give up and throw everything in the trash. If you first do not succeed…
