homework: reading {adventures in pompoms land}

I love pompoms! There is something so irresistible about the soft fluffy perfectly trimmed ball of yarn. The pompoms in this book titled Adventures in Pompom Land by Myko Diann Bocek are beyond a cute ball of yarn. They are little works of pompom art.

Sew and Tell: pom pom snowman ornament

I had so much fun making pom pom flowers last month that I couldn’t resist making a pom pom snowman.

If you missed the tutorial on how to make a pom pom, you can find it here. To make a snowman, just make two pom poms, one slightly smaller than the other. I made the hat and eyes out of black cardstock and the nose out of orange cardstock rolled into a tiny cone. The buttons are black sequins.

You can use your pom pom snowman as an ornament or tie it onto a package to make someone’s gift extra special.

I’m going to leave my snowman is his little snow flurry since he seems so content.

Sew and Tell: yarn pom poms

When you think of yarn pom poms you usually think of ponchos and knit beanie toppers. I think pom poms have been given a bad rap. Rethink the pom pom and use them on a variety of crafts. Here’s what I did with my yarn pom poms.

 A pom pom topiary.

And a pom pom cotton plant.

You can find a tutorial on how to make pom poms here.

So dig out that box of leftover yarn because yesterday’s beanie topper is today’s fun craft.
