Etceteras: berries and cream

I’m very behind on fall and Thanksgiving decorating this year. I’m hosting Thanksgiving tomorrow and needed some additional fall décor to spruce up the eating area.

Blog Winter Berries
I used the above beautiful images from BHG for my inspiration and got to work.

My original plan was to use twigs and some faux floral berries that I had bought. Then I remembered the piles of berries in the backyard that our ficus tree has been dropping.

I scooped up a jarful and started gluing them to the twigs I collected from our front yard.

I arranged the faux berry twigs in this milk bottle I recently found at the thrift store.

The colors of these berries that we usually consider a mess and nuisance are beautiful.

This time of year, fall foliage is everywhere and it’s just a matter of putting the pieces together to make a pretty arrangement.

Dead twigs, fallen berries and a thrift store milk jar have become a pretty berries and cream arrangement.

Etceteras: pink berry wreath

I couldn’t resist these stems of pink berries from the dollar store.

I usually go with the “less-is-more” rule but in this case I went with the “more, more, more rule” and layered the clusters of berries all around the wreath.

I added a few of the leaves that came with the berries and this pink berry wreath is ready to hang.

A quick and easy project that adds a pop of pink to this room.

Etceteras: berries in the snow

It doesn’t snow where I live. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see people in shorts on Christmas day. So, in order to have a white Christmas around here, you have to buy it in a can.

This year I wanted to some snow for my table centerpiece. I created these berries in the snow using twigs, red faux berries and canned snow.

Now, even though the sun is out, we can have a white Christmas too.

Etceteras: miniature berry and peppercorn wreath

There’s a tree in our backyard that drops berries. A lot of berries. We sweep them up and then the next day, the ground is covered with them again. I decided to make the best of the situation and try to make something out of them.

The berries are small so I made a miniature autumn wreath and added colorful peppercorns and moss here and there.

As for the tree, there are still a ton of berries waiting to drop - and I’ll be ready, either with my broom or glue gun.
