I know we’re all eager for spring and it really is just around the corner. I can’t wait to get outside and plant a spring vegetable garden. This year, I’m going to add more herbs to my garden and these cute plant flags will handy so I can identify my plants.

Celebrations: cupcake candle flags

Cupcake and cake flags are so popular right now and the sky is the limit when it comes to decorating sweet treats with flags. I love using these tall super skinny birthday candles for celebrations so I thought it would be fun to incorporate the candle and the flag.

I made a few different types of flags. Leaf green striped flags with a tiny piece of matching velvet ribbon for Easter treats.

Pretty in pink birthday flags with tiny crepe paper streamers.

All occasion “I {heart} U” flags.

This “Take One” flag would be fun for a buffet table or cupcake stand.

Just remember to leave enough room at the top for the candle to burn.

Have a happy day and thanks for visiting.

Etceteras: yarn wrapped plant markers

Don’t you love the look and smell of fresh herbs growing in a kitchen window?

I haven’t planted my herb garden yet but in preparation, I made these plant marker flags.
I started with corn cob sticks and wrapped yarn around the top half. The bottom half will go into the dirt so I wanted to keep that plain.
To identify the herbs, I made little flags and tied them onto the sticks. I used a permanent marker to handwrite the herb names onto the fabric.

Next on my to-do list: buy herb plants and enjoy the fragrance and taste of fresh herbs.
