INKLING: Free Printable Marbled Greeting Cards

Have you tried any of the trendy marbling techniques? Last year, I made a few things using the nail polish and water marbling technique and loved the results.

Inkling: security envelope envelopes

I’m sure you’ve seen security envelopes used for a variety of paper crafts. Some of the envelopes have beautiful designs.

What’s the most obvious thing to make out of security envelopes? More security envelopes.

I used the security envelopes from bills and junk mail to make liners for note card size envelopes.

Simply open up your junk mail envelope until you have a flat piece of paper.

Measure your note card envelope and cut out a liner to fit inside.

Use a glue stick to glue your liner to the inside of your envelope.

A great way to dress up plain note card envelopes and upcycle junk mail.

Inkling: silhouette dress cards

Back in August, I made note cards that featured little black dresses. I cut out each dress using black cardstock and glued them onto a white note card. I called them the LBD (little black dress) note cards.

I decided it was time to update the collection. The new cards are seasonal skirts.

Just like the LBD cards, I drew a template and cut out each skirt and top. With the skirts, I used images of fabric and printed them onto white card stock first. The winter formal skirt is pink satin, the spring mini skirt is a lime green and white cotton, the summer sarong is a red hibiscus print and the fall pleated skirt is a wool plaid.

Inkling: leaf cards

My obsession with leaves marches on. Leaf mobiles, leaf centerpieces, pressed leaves and now, I can add leaf note cards to the list.

I created these leaves in a drawing program and then applied different colors to them creating three different note cards.

Fall Leaves

Green Leaves

Last Leaf

I printed these cards on watercolor paper. I love using watercolor paper for projects. The texture gives the card a rich and interesting look.

A sampling of my leaf obsessed projects and a quote that sums up why I love leaves.

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.

Show and Tell: die cut moving cards

I love die cut cards - especially since I don’t personally have a die cut machine. So when I saw these cards, I couldn’t wait to share them.

My friend Maria created these cards when her daughter moved out of state to start her first job as a teacher. Each die cut house is mounted onto card stock and tied with light blue cotton floss. The color scheme is carried out on the envelopes with micro dots and a light blue scroll around the address area.

These cards are so perfect for the occasion and you can tell they
were made with love and a mother’s pride!
Thanks for sharing Maria.

Inkling: lbd note cards

Silhouettes are popping up everywhere. I wanted to try to make one but I think it takes a certain skill set to cut out a profile of someone’s face. I decided I needed to start with something a little more basic for my silhouette attempt and what could be more basic than a little black dress or lbd.

To make these silhouette note cards, I first sketched the dresses on cardstock. Once I was satisfied I cut them out. Then I traced around each dress template onto black cardstock. I cut out my dresses (like paper dolls) and glued them onto white cardstock.

The best part of the silhouette little black dress note card is that one size fits all.

Inkling: homemade note cards

Note cards are a bit of an obsession with me. I basically love anything under the “stationery/paper” category. Don’t you just love getting a real handwritten note in the mail? Sadly, I don’t get very many these days. I’ve decided that I need to step up my own efforts and send out more note cards. And what better reason to get busy and make a new stash of cards to keep on hand.

I created the pictures in a simple drawing program, printed them out on card stock and mounted them to colored card stock. Voila!

I made moving cards for a friend who recently moved and included it as a sample because the red house makes me smile – and think of my friend.

Now, I’m off to the post office to mail my cards.
