Etceteras: rain drop sun catcher

It’s been raining in my neck of the woods a lot lately. At first it seems refreshing but after awhile I get tired of seeing rain drops on the window. Here’s my solution.

I made a rain drop sun catcher. If it’s raining, I get to look at colorful cheery rain drops. If it’s sunny, the rain drops become a sun catcher.

Here’s how I made this sun catcher.

Materials:
  • A sheet of plastic (the kind that comes on a new toy box or box of stationery)
  • Tissue paper
  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors
  • String
  1. Cover your plastic in Mod Podge and add various colors of tissue paper.
  2. Let completely dry.
  3. Once dry, Mod Podge over the tissue paper. Let dry.
  4. Cut out the rain drop shapes.
  5. Add a string or thread to each rain drop and hang from your window.

Rain or shine, I’m ready.

The Inspiration Board: after the rain

It drizzled here the other day. And then it rained for two days. Between the drizzle and the rain I took a few pictures. I’m not a photographer but I love taking pictures.

With a digital camera, your computer and the amazing free photo editing programs now available, anyone can turn pictures into works of art. For these photos, I used FotoFlex. A free online photo editing tool.

The possibilities are endless.
You can play with color.

You can take an ordinary picture...

and antique it or...

turn it into pop art…

The drizzly rain was refreshing but hopefully the sun will be shining again soon.
