Once again I was blown away by all the projects linked up on the Inspiration Board this week. You are all raising the bar on creativity! Thank you so much for stopping by, commenting, linking and partying with me. I truly appreciate it.

Here are a few projects in the spotlight this week.

IMG_3105 Most of us have seen these types of beds –- in the PB catalog for a lot of money! That’s my Letter built this one for her son. Who wouldn’t want to sleep in this clubhouse or hangout in the play area below. No wonder he added a “No Girls Allowed” sign!

Super cute and colorful favor stand combining all the “in” patterns and colors by Paper Vine. Hop on over to Paper Vine to learn how to make one for yourself.

Picture1 Perfect for a hot summer day – chilled cucumber soup by Southern Mom Cooks. A cool and refreshing starter for backyard barbeque or fancy indoor dinner.

IMG_2041A new spin on the old favorite lemon bars. Lime Curd Bars with Coconut Crust by Life Made Simple. Looks delicious and for some reason I can’t get that song “she put the lime in the coconut…” out of my head.

floxglove3 Life on Walnut Street used old shutters and pretty knick knacks for her summer mantle. The result is a beautiful, serene focal point.

finishedlimeMidwestern Sewing Girl went all Martha on us and made the cutest Martha-inspired drawstring Bag out of dish towels. Dish towels make this project easier but you could always stencil plain fabric to make a bag.

soappouch2-1This project is so ingenious! Soap pouches that double as a washcloth by Vanessa’s Values. These soap pouches were made from a large towel and will be used for Operation Christmas Child. Fantastic! These would also be great for camping or dorm life.

IMG_2841You won’t believe what this lampshade is made from. WCC Designs used rolled newspapers to create this stunning lampshade. Doesn’t it look like something you’d see in a fancy shop or gallery?

Nautical Rope Spool-512 This project speaks to me – in fact it shouts my name. A rope spool by My Hoot Designs combines nautical, beautiful dark wood and shells to create a beautiful summer look.

Fantastic party theme Vixen Made. A Bling Party with plenty of pretty sweet treats and bling. Pink, silver and diamonds – a girl’s best friend.

Etceteras: stash busting mod podge dish

Here’s another stash busting project in my attempt to use up some items that I’ve purchased, collected, saved and stashed… along the way.

This dish was originally an olive green plastic dish that I bought. [I have a weakness for leaf shaped bowls and dishes.] I always intended to spray paint or cover it somehow but it got put in a craft bin and I never got around to it.

I decided to Mod Podge the bowl instead of painting it. I used pieces of torn white tissue paper to completely cover the dish. Between coats of Mod Podge, I cut up bits of gold paper and sprinkled them on the dish.

A final coat of gloss Mod Podge and once it was dry a coat of clear spray varnish finishes the bowl.

Since summer is around the corner, I may use it to display beachy shells.

Or use it as a jewelry dish.

Either way, I’m glad it’s not an olive green plastic dish sitting in my craft bin anymore.

Thanks for visiting.

Accessories: bloom and grow

This post brought to you by Bloom.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

I usually don't post about make up and beauty but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to tell you about this new social network site. It's called Bloom.com. Pretty things plus social networking - what a great concept!

At Bloom.com you are able to discover products for your personalized needs based on the unbiased feedback and what is trending in the social world.

Women Helping Women
That's what Bloom.com is all about – a social beauty store that's revolutionizing the way you buy beauty products. I spent quite a lot of time on the Bloom.com site and was amazed at the selection. They have over 10,000 items from 150+ brands. And, each purchase comes with a FREE customized BloomBonus gift filled with luxury products tailored specifically for your beauty needs, plus 10% back in BloomDollars. First time purchasers can get 30% back on their first order.

What I also liked about Bloom was that the products range from budget friendly to high-end brands. Something for everyone.

Here's what the founder & CEO had to say.

Hi, I'm Julie Mahloch... busy mom of three and founder of Bloom.com. I love beauty products and I always want to look my best, but once I turned the big 4-0 and started getting more interested in anti-aging products, I realized how frustrating it is to figure out what to buy. My girlfriends and I would often chat about the overwhelming options. Sure, we could read about the latest trends and must-have products, but who has time to stay on top of it all? We all just want something that works, right?

That's why I created Bloom.com. I wanted a place where women could join together and share their honest opinions and experiences… a place that would "know" each woman and their needs and remember which products worked or didn't work… a place that would recommend the ideal products for each woman based on HER beauty profile.

I hope you love how easy it is to find the best products for you at Bloom.com. Now you can get the right products, and save time and money! Our hope is that you will NEVER buy the wrong beauty products again.

Here's more exciting news:  Bloom.com currently has an awesome giveaway to Win a spa vacation for 4 girlfriends! all expenses paid at the luxury 5 star Aria hotel!

Bloom.com Copy - Google Docs

How fun would that be! All you have to do is join Bloom.com, it is free to enter. For every friend who joins you get an extra spa weekend entry, and for every friend who joins & buys you receive a $25 credit to your account (No Limit!).

Inkling: stash busting butterfly wreath

I’m officially declaring it “stash busting” week over here at homework. I either have to start using up some of my existing supplies or start throwing things away.

And since I can’t bear to throw precious things away, I needed to come up with some projects to use up some of my supplies.

One item that I have an abundance of is security envelopes. I’ve mentioned before that I love the pretty patterns of the insides of these envelopes… but my box is overflowing.

I grabbed a stack and started punching out butterflies. I punched and punched until I had a large pile.

To make this wreath, I used a pool noodle as the wreath form. I’ve seen this trick over and over traveling through blogland and it works great. Pool noodles are everywhere right now so it’s a good time to stock up {I know, we’re supposed to be stash busting not stocking up on things... } Another trick is to use pipe insulation that you can buy at a home improvement store. Cut your pool noodle or foam pipe insulation to your desired length, form a circle and duct tape closed. An instant wreath form.

Once you have your wreath form, you may want to wrap it in paper, fabric or ribbon to cover up the bright pool noodle color. Mine was neon green and I covered it with white crepe paper. I used hot glue to adhere the butterflies.

Butterfly wreaths and garlands would be a great way to decorate on a budget for summer parties and weddings. Stay tuned for more stash busting this week…

Wow you all have been busy. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful projects on the Inspiration Board this week. All the home and furniture renovations are inspiring me to get up from my crafting table and start tackling larger projects. Plus there are so many new recipes to try and gardening tips and tricks I want to try. Thank you all for inspiring me. I hope those of you who stopped by were equally inspired.

Here are a few projects in the spotlight this week.

DSC09543 copy I’m always on the hunt for a new cupcake. Todd & Lyndsey made these range Creamsicle Cupcakes for her students and they loved them.

drawer desk What do you do when you find fantastic vintage drawers without the original table? Life on Walnut Street built this table to house the vintage drawers. A great find and great table.

Download$IMG959382 Handmade silverware handles by Accidently Wonderful. These were a Mother’s Day gift and I’m sure these unique utensils will be treasured and passed down.

IMG_1443 (2) By the Way Jenn Gray adds a touch of yellow to this lamp and it gives the all white lamp such a cheery pop of sunshine.

sunburst mirror05I love this sunburst mirror by Decorating Cents. Total cost – $4.00. The sunburst is made from paint sticks {free!} and the finished mirror looks like one you would see in a pricey store.

striped bedroom (2) This guest room is so serene and peaceful. I just want to lay on that bed and take a nap! A beautiful guest room reveal complete with gray and white striped walls by Live Love DIY.

Strawberry SorbetHomemade strawberry sorbet by The Real Thing. The best part – the family first went strawberry picking and then made the sorbet. What a great family activity with a special treat to cap off the day!

IMG_3410I’m loving all the paint dipped projects popping up lately. These wooden spoons by Small Home Love are so bright and fun. A great way to give your kitchen a splash of color.

pink dresser makeover (5)Adventures of a DIY Mom gave a yard sale dresser a whole new look. But instead of white on white, she decided to paint the drawers pink for her little girl’s room. The dresser is so perfectly girly and definitely pretty in pink.

fabric_tape04-600x398Vanessa at Nifty Thrifty Things does it again. Her crafts are always darling and these diy fabric tapes are no exception. Vanessa also has such a great eye for prop styling and her photography is always beautiful. Yes, I’m a big fan of Nifty Thrifty Things!

{Giveaway }

On Wednesday, I reviewed and posted about Martha Stewart's new product - crafter's clay. I had wanted to do a giveaway but the demand for the product was so high that I didn't receive the additional kit to use for a giveaway. That's how wonderful this product is. And then, a second package arrived. Yippee! I now have a starter kit to share with one of you.

Here's what in the box: white clay, colored clay to blend your own colors, molds, floral tape and wire and clay tools.

Here’s how you can win one – for each entry leave me a separate comment.

  • Follow my blog {homework} via Google Friend Connect – the gadget is on the right sidebar and leave me a comment letting me know you're a follower.
  • Tweet about this contest and leave me a comment letting me know about your tweet.

Contest Rules:
  • This contest will run from Friday, May 18th, 2012 1:00 a.m. PST until Friday, May 25th, 2012 6:00 p.m. PST.
  • One winner will be drawn from the comments using a random number generator.
  • To be eligible, anonymous and no-reply entries must leave an email address so that I can contact you.
