Upcycling: magnetic cookie sheet board

This cookie sheet was heading for the trash the other day. At the last minute, I decided to salvage it and make a magnetic board.

To make a magnetic board, you simply cover the front of your cookie sheet with fabric and glue the edges to the back of the board. I used a hot glue gun. Once your fabric is glued into place, embellish the board with pretty ribbon or ric rac - or leave it plain.
I used string that had little bits of blue in it. The string was in my yarn stash, so I think it’s actually a cotton yarn. I wrapped the yarn around the board to create a memo board effect. I also glued a silky type yarn around existing magnets to match the blue in the string.

My last minute decision paid off. I’m glad I didn’t throw away the cookie sheet and I’m super happy with my new magnetic board.

  11. Great Idea! I found a giant sized tray at the GW and wasn't sure what to do with it. I'll have to try this. Also, we have very similar tastes, I have many of the same cool images from the Graphics Fairy and Amazon books on my blog. :)

  25. I did this project last night after being inspired by yours. Thanks for the idea. I linked you in The Downsize Challenge today in my spot about sorting through pots and pans in an effort to minimize kitchen clutter. This is a great use for my old cookie sheet and it will serve as a short-term memory message board for my grandfather who has dementia.
