If you follow craft and diy blogs, then you’ve probably seen thousands of diy cake stands. The idea is so simple and brilliant. A candle holder, a plate and some glue.
Can you stand looking at just one more? Because for just a few dollars, you can pretend to be oh-so fancy! A dollar store tin party plate and glass candle holder become a “crystal and sterling” cake stand.
Add a few beads to fancy it up even more.
And since we’re pretending to be fancy, make some finger sandwiches. I used plain old white bread, cream cheese and some chives.
Sit down with your favorite tea and enjoy your little sandwiches. Or, have some friends over for high tea.
Wouldn’t these cake stands be pretty for a bridal or baby shower? Or even a wedding. They’re so easy to make. Dollar store platter and candle holder, E6000 glue and the beads from a bracelet that I no longer wear.
Thanks for looking at yet another cake stand. It was fun being fancy today!
Thanks for visiting.

ReplyDeleteSo lovely! You always come up with pushing an overdone idea into something new and exciting with just a bit of attention to details. I'm inspired!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's so pretty! It looks really romantic and would be great for a fancy tea =) xo Anja
ReplyDeleteI love to pretend I am fancy. This is beautiful. And, I love that it's dollar store supplies...it definitely does not look like it has a dollar store price tag :)
ReplyDeleteSweet. I love the addition of the beads.
ReplyDeleteI love the beads that you added on it!
ReplyDeleteLove the simplicity! I'm having a link party for tiered displays and cake pedestals on Wednesday August 29th at Homa Style and would love it if you came over and linked up your elegant cake pedestal!
ReplyDeleteHere's the website http://homastyle.com
Hope to see your creativity there!
