The Dirt: twigs, branches and a new tree

In the past, I’ve made several projects using twigs and branches. Most of the twigs came from the White Birch tree that was in our front yard and provided shade for our dining room bay window. Sadly, our birch tree died. I kept hoping it would come back but it was not to be.

I had someone help take it out and asked him to save me all the branches and twigs. I knew what was coming. When my husband got home he gave me that look. You know the one… 

The “what in the world are you going to do with all those twigs” look.

“And all those branches.” 

Me: Um, make things…

Anyway, the point is, we need to replace our front yard tree. I’ve been researching different trees and I’ve fallen in love with the lace bark elm.

It’s beautiful and it would look so pretty in our front yard. This time, I’m going to do my research and really take care of our new tree.

I’m heading to the Gardenieres site to learn how to fertilize my new tree and how to take care of it. They have articles and videos like; How to Plant a Tree, Keep Your Trees Growing Strong With Fertilizer and How to Calculate the Size of the Root Zone.
