HOMEROOM: Master Bedroom Makeover Progress (Part 3)

It’s slowly getting there. I’ve made more progress on our Master Bedroom Makeover and what a difference it’s made. Our master bedroom was the most neglected, ugliest room in our house. We just kept putting it off and never replaced the old, original cheap furniture.

You can see the transformation in the first and second posts. Rather than invest in new furniture right now, I painted the dressers, added textured paper to the drawers and added new knobs.


New curtains add to the breezy feel of the room and bamboo placemats cover the dresser tops to not only protect them but add more coastal touches.


The most recent changes are the two Geometric Jacquard Pillows in Champagne and pretty Metro Cotton Light Blue Blanket from Hayneedle. Hayneedle has a huge selection of everything for home. Indoor furniture and décor, kitchen, bedroom, and outdoor.


I love the pillows. I think the beautiful Champagne color works with the light neutral palette but adds a touch of elegance to the bed.


The 100% Cotton Metro Blanket is also a nice touch. There’s a lot of white going on in the room and I plan to change out the accent color depending on my mood or the season. Right now, it’s a light blue. But I may switch to navy blue or sage green or even red for the holidays.


The other new piece in the room is the gorgeous rug by Lorena Canals’ new Washable Home Rug Collection. Lorena Canals is a celebrated Spanish designer and her new collection is not only washable, but eco friendly. I chose the Ombre Grey | Baby Blue Rug. The ombre is very subtle and the rug is super soft. My Sammy thinks it’s hers.



Thank goodness the rug is machine washable because Sammy has practically abandoned her bed and camped out on the new rug. I can’t blame her, the rug is cozy and soft. It’s 100& cotton and made with non-toxic dyes.

One more picture of Sammy on the rug. She’s in her senior years and getting arthritic so I’m happy she’s enjoying the new rug.

I’m loving the look of our Master Bedroom. I still have more work to do. Next up, adding the on-trend bamboo shades I ordered. Stay tuned – I’ll be showing you more pictures as soon as I get the shades installed.
