HOMEWORK {READING}: Craft Fail Book Review

Craft Fail Book Review via homework - carolynshomework (2)If you’re a crafter, baker or creator of any kind, you’ve most likely had a failed project at one time or another. I’ve had many, many failed projects. I’ve never posted about my craft fails. They usually go straight into the trash can. But Heather Mann, creator of the site Craft Fail celebrates the failures.

I met Heather at the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) show a few year ago. In the blog world, if you meet someone, even for a few minutes, you’re friends or at least blog friends. So I consider Heather my friend. Hopefully, she remembers meeting me. Heather’s website CraftFail is hysterical.

We can throw a lot of the blame for many of these fail on Pinterest. We obsessively browse Pinterest and see beautiful projects and say “I can make that!”. But often, it’s not as easy as it looks. Or, we take shortcuts or improvise. The result…a craft fail. Here are some examples of some of the hysterical craft fails in Heather’s new book.

This is exactly what happened to mine. All was well while I gently hand washed my mug but it somehow ended up in the dishwasher one day and now I have a plain white mug again. Oh well.

Craft Fail Book Review via homework - carolynshomework (8)Yes, we all have craft fail stories. Heather has put together 100’s of hysterical craft fails and the outcome is one very funny book. Believe me, she’s not making fun of the craft fails. She describes herself as a failure enthusiast and says “you learn more from trying and failing than not trying at all”.

If you’re interested in purchasing CRAFTFAIL, you can check it out here.

And the next time I have a craft fail, I won’t be so quick to throw it in the trash. I’ll send it to Heather for her Craft Fail website.

Thank you so much for stopping by.
