The Inspiration Board: Spotlight 178 & Hello Fall Inspiration

Happy Halloween everyone. Now that my son is away at college, I seriously almost forgot it was Halloween. I mean, I have a pumpkin on the front porch and a bowl of candy ready but I had to remind myself that the little trick or treaters will be showing up tonight. Are you ready for Halloween? I hope so!

As always, I huge thank you to all of you that shared projects on The Inspiration Board this week. Everything was gorgeous and inspiring as always.

Here’s a little recap of what I posted about this week.

SHOW & TELL: Homemade Gift Round Up

Homemade Gift Round Up via carolynshomework.comIn a few days Halloween will be behind us and we’ll need to turn our attention to the major holidays that are around the corner. I’ve been thinking about some homemade gift ideas and thought I’d share some things that I found. None of these gifts take major crafting, cooking or sewing skills. I think they’d all be pretty easy to create but would make a big impact. I love homemade gifts and can’t wait to start creating some of these.

UPCYCLING: Easy Chalkboard Sign

Chalkboard Sign - homework (carolynshomework (4)Am I late to the chalkboard party? I’ve actually done a few chalkboard projects but this is my first chalkboard sign. I’m not sure if the chalkboard trend will be with us much longer but that’s okay, I still wanted a chalkboard sign for my hutch. I don’t have a mantel so this dining room hutch is my décor central. And since this frame was just sitting around and fit perfectly on the top shelf, it seemed like it was meant to be.

Intricate folds, twists and knots create beautiful dyed fabric patterns. The technique typically uses an indigo dye which create gorgeous deep blue resist patterns.

GOOD TASTE: Jazzed Up Instant Ramen Noodles

Instant Ramen Upgrade - homework (2)

You know those instant ramen noodles – the ones that come in a compact rectangle with a little powdery season pack? Ya, those. I always keep packages of those in my cupboard. If I do make them with the season pack, I only use about 1/3 of the packet. But I rarely use the seasoning that it comes with. Instead, they’re a great base for leftovers. Beef, pork, chicken, shrimp… just about anything goes with those noodles. Here’s an example of what you can make.

CELEBRATIONS: Great Halloween Ideas from Dollar Store Items

I love the Dollar Store. Any dollar store; the 99 cent store, 99 cent plus, the dollar store, dollar tree or any good clearance aisle. These stores are especially great during the holidays. And Halloween brings out the best in dollar decorating. Because who wants to spend a lot of money on Halloween décor. I mean it’s fun but it’s not going to stay up for very long. I’ve rounded up some of the very best dollar store Halloween ideas. These bloggers have really raised the bar with their spooky fun.
