It’s slowly getting there. I’ve made more progress on our Master Bedroom Makeover and what a difference it’s made. Our master bedroom was the most neglected, ugliest room in our house. We just kept putting it off and never replaced the old, original cheap furniture.

Somehow June got away from me. One day I was moaning about the June gloom weather and bam, it got hot and we’re in the last week of June. It’s crazy how fast the days seems to fly by. It would be nice to slow down and enjoy the little things. I’m going to make an effort to do that. Who’s with me?

Phew… we had our first summer heatwave and I survived. Every summer I mention this, but we don’t have air conditioning since we live so close to the coast. It rarely gets above the high 70’s but when it does we swelter. It’s the only time I look forward to going to the grocery store so I can soak in the AC. I hope your summer is off to a good start and you’re keeping cool.

I’m so excited to see what you’ve been up to. I worked on a craft project this past weekend and it’s in the craft fail bin. It was so far from what I had pictured it’s laughable. Oh well, back to the drawing board. So I’m definitely looking forward to your inspiration.

It’s definitely summer here in Southern California. We’re having a heat wave and baby it’s hot!! I’m lucky to live by the coast so we should top off today below 90 degrees. I love summer. It’s my favorite season and there were loads of summer home tours linked up – several of them are featured below – plus a bunch of other fun projects. A little over a year ago my neighbor passed away at a terribly young age leaving her husband and twin toddlers. I watched her fight cancer courageously and beat it only to cruelly have to endure another round. I watched her babies release butterflies at her grave and heard them over the backyard fence struggle to find normal again.

Welcome back friends. I hope you had an amazing weekend. We cleaned out our garage over the weekend. I know, such a glamorous life. My son wants to convert the garage into a man-cave workout room. I’ll keep you posted on the progress of garage makeover. We’re at the oh my goodness we have so much junk stage. Welcome to a new week here on homework. I hope you had a wonderful weekend? Did you relax, create or do something fun? My goal this past weekend was to get caught up on my to-do list and I made a good dent. The to-do list is never ending – it’s always one step forward and two steps back.

Making it in the Mountains took part in the one room challenge and created this stunning Farmhouse Bathroom. Those sinks are fantastic!

FRIDAY: High Five

I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t been posting my Friday High Five. The Friday High Five is all about 5 things from my week. An accomplishment, fun outing, something I bought or want to buy… anything that I want to high five about. And since it’s been, like forever since my last high five post. These photos are from the past month. So without further ado, here are the latest things I’m high fiving about.


The month started with another business trip to Washington. Every few months, I travel to Seattle / Bellevue and work from the corporate office. It’s always jam packed with meetings, social outings and sore feet. When I leave and after I make it through TSA, I always treat myself to the lemon pound cake and Café Mocha from the airport Starbucks. My new obsession is to substitute regular milk for coconut milk.
