Welcome back everyone and Happy Leap Year Day! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I finished our dining room bay window makeover this weekend and I’m obviously out of shape because I’m so sore.  Hat’s off to you home décor and diy experts. Actually, my husband and I used to do a lot of diy projects but we've slowed down and now we’re on that cycle of everything needs improvement again. Anyway, I can’t wait to show you the dining room reveal soon. I just need to finish up some of the decorating part and then we’ll be done.

FRIDAY: High Five

I’ve been traveling for my day job quite a bit and snapped this picture descending into Seattle, Washington. Just breathtaking. The good news is, I won’t be traveling for a 2 or 3 months so I can get caught up on fun things like creating goodies for this blog.

I’ve mentioned that I travel quit a bit for my day job and I just got back from another whirlwind trip. My sweet co-worker and friend, Danielle makes wonderful scrubs, salts, balms and more. She’s basically the ying to my yang. She’s healthy and knows all about natural ingredients and living a more natural lifestyle. Me, not so - much although I try.

Did you have a nice weekend? I sure hope so. It was nice to leave this week behind and unwind since I had one of  “those” weeks last week. I’ve waited 3 months for my new dishwasher [long story…] and it finally got installed only to find it’s defective and I have to wait another month for a new one. I had also hired a handy man to work on some things around the house and he canceled, plus a variety of other irritating things. But it’s hard to complain since these are all luxury items and I have a roof over my head and a place to sleep. Right?

So let’s forget about all that and be inspired by the projects featured this week.

I have an ongoing love affair with vintage buttons. There’s something about an old box or jar filled with buttons that’s like a time capsule. Little threads hanging off a discarded shirt button, an oversized coat button, evening wear rhinestone buttons all meant to be used again.  Over the years, I’ve shared quite a few projects using buttons from my collection. I hope you enjoy this trip through my archives as much as I did.

The Inspiration Board: Spotlight 245 & Pretty Please

Hello friends! Today is a holiday in the U.S. and thank goodness for the 3-day weekend. I got back in town Friday night and came home to a very messy house. The boys did their best – sort of – but their idea of picking up and keeping things clean are a far cry from mine. My son’s room looked and smelled like a gym locker room and the rest of the house was pretty bad too. I was not happy and on Saturday, I had all hands on deck cleaning and sanitizing the house. After cleaning, I sat down with my cup of coffee to stroll through the link ups from The Inspiration Board. Thank goodness for you guys because I was instantly transported to your homes, kitchens and craft rooms and all was well in my world again.

HOMEROOM: Dining Room Bay Window Makeover

I’m finally making some progress on my dining room bay window makeover. Truth be known, those wood blinds and green valance have been in that window since we first moved in many, many years ago. I’m slowly going to be changing out all the wood blinds in our house which are so difficult to dust and replace them with bamboo shades. You can see in this picture I’ve narrowed the shades down to three choices: Tortoise, Monarch and White. I’m leaning toward the middle sample which is Monarch.
