I’ve been playing around with fall colors and this by far is my favorite color combination. Burnt orange and turquoise. I bought a package of these little tea lights and wrapped a pretty piece of turquoise velvet ribbon around the holder. I think one for each place setting at Thanksgiving will be perfect. What’s your favorite fall color combination?

UPCYCLING: Grey Felt Fall Treat Tin
I’m so excited to finally be sharing some real fall projects. First up is this simple treat can. The combination of grey felt, beautiful, crisp fall leaves and turquoise is quite possibly my favorite fall combination to date.

FRIDAY: HIGH FIVE
Happy Friday everyone. I’m starting a new column on my blog called Friday High Five. These are just snippets of what I’ve been up to, inspirational ideas or anything that we can “high five” over. Woot. Most of these will just be shot with my phone as I muddle through the week. Have a great weekend. I’ll see you back here next week. Enjoy the first edition of Friday: High Five.

I gathered these leaves on my recent trip to Washington. I’m sure my co-workers thought this Cali girl was crazy picking up leaves in the office parking lot. I put them in a baggie and packed them in my suitcase. They made it back in one piece and I was able to press them. Upcoming project with the leaves and this pretty grey felt.

DRESS CODE: Beautiful Bellevue & What I Wore
Hello friends. I took my third business trip to Bellevue, Washington a few weeks ago and was in awe of the beautiful seasonal changes, the crisp air and the love the people of Washington have for their beloved Seattle Seahawks Football team.
It's a short flight from Los Angeles to Seattle and the company I work for always sends a town car to pick me up at the airport. It's such a treat and I love feeling so special. I snapped this picture of myself in the town car doing my best celebrity gaze impression.

The Inspiration Board: Spotlight 228 & Think Pink Inspiration
Hello friends! I hope you had a great weekend. I finally had some time to get some things done around the house after two back-to-back business trips. It was so nice to just be at home. I didn't even mind cleaning and tidying up. Imagine that! The weather has finally cooled down enough for me to start baking too. I live by the coast so we don't have air conditioning and this last scorching heatwave put the brakes on anything oven related. But now that it's cooler I can try out some of the amazing pumpkin recipes and fall dishes that you all have been linking up.
In case you've missed anything - here's a glimpse at what I've been sharing.

A huge thank you to everyone who's been linking up here on The Inspiration Board. I've been hosting this party for over four years and this past month has seen record link ups - over 300 each week. Woo hoo!! Here are the projects featured this week.

ETCETERAS: Clearance Desk Lamp Makeover
You probably know this about me by now but I love a good clearance item. Set me loose in the dollar store or clearance aisle in any store and I’m bound to find something that I end of “making over”. The best time to score these deals are after the seasonal sales. I found two desk lamps after the back-to-school frenzy was over for $5.00 each.

INKLING: Boo Halloween Printable
I have such a fun printable for you today. I’m out of town this week so I didn’t get to print these out and take pictures of them. I’m envisioning these on a bright white treat bag or black bag. You could even print them out and use them as fun tags. How about labels? So many fun ways to use this simple BOO printable.

The Inspiration Board: Creative Party 227 & Miniature Crepe Paper Carrots
FROM MY ARCHIVES : Crepe Paper & Moss Carrots
Welcome everyone. So glad you stopped by. Even though I’m still out of town for work it wouldn’t be Tuesday here at homework without The Inspiration Board. I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to. This time of year has me thinking about knitting with chunky yarn, making soup, and filling my house with white pumpkins. The reality… I don’t know where my knitting needles are, it’s still too hot for soup and there’s not a single pumpkin in my house yet. So please, inspire me!

The Inspiration Board: Creative Party Spotlight 226 & Arachnophobia Fun
Welcome to a brand new week here at homework. Did you have a nice weekend? I spent mine cleaning the house and packing. I’m actually out of town right now – another business trip for the day job. It’s going to be a whirlwind week of airports, meetings, dinners and more meetings. I’m excited though because I bought some cute new fall clothes and splurged on a pair of leopard print pumps. So if my feet hold out I’m hoping to share some What I Wore posts.
So while I’m dashing in and out of meetings, I hope you’re relaxing with a nice cup of coffee as you scroll through these beautiful projects featured from The Inspiration Board.
Let’s start with a little recap of what I’ve been sharing.

GOOD TASTE: Los Angeles Times Company Rice
Years and years ago, I was invited to the Los Angeles Times for a luncheon and presented with an autographed copy of Dear S.O.S.: Thirty Years of Recipe Requests by Rose Dosti. Dear S.O.S. was a popular column for years in the Los Angeles Times. Readers would request favorite restaurant recipes and the column would print them. Now there’s Pinterest and other food blogs where we can instantaneously get copycat recipes. But I still cherish this book and this recipe for Company Rice is one of my favorites.
It’s that old-school type of recipe, you know, with soup and butter. According to the author, this recipe won her “My Best Recipe” prize in 1972! Yup, it’s an oldie but a goodie. Let’s make some…
