Etceteras: Homemade Fruit Fly Trap

Homemade Fruit Fly Trap via homeworkGetting rid of fruit flies can be a problem. They hide, buzz around, annoy you and then hide again. You can try swatting at them but they’re hard to swat. I’ve tried different variations of fruit fly recipes over the years but they never worked for me. The fruit flies would seem interested in the different concoctions that I’d make but never be tempted enough to take a swan dive into the cup of liquid.

The Inspiration Board: creative party spotlight ~116~

Hello everyone and happy Friday. We made it through the first week of school in our house. My son has embarked on his senior year of high school and let me tell you, it went by at warp speed. One minute you’re walking them into pre-school or kindergarten and the next – just like a movie on fast forward – it’s the last year and then he’ll be off to college. Can we have a group hug?

Thank you… and while we’re all hugging it out, here’s what I shared this week.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by this week. Your visits, comments and shared links on The Inspiration Board are so appreciated. This week we had another Inspiration Board brimming with creativity. Here are the projects in the spotlight this week.

A Splash of Yellow via homeworkFall is around the corner but for now I’m hanging on to summer. I’ve been into yellow lately – it’s so bright and cheery and I’ve added little pops of yellow here and there in my kitchen.

GOOD TASTE: Chicken Pita & Greek Yogurt Tzatziki Sauce

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Cooking Light, Sunset, and Real Simple magazines, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #BTSatSafeway  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

Chicken Pita & Greek Yogurt Sauce via homework (1)Back to school time means quick and easy meal choices. Breakfast needs to be readily available for those frenzied mornings. Lunches need to be preplanned or even premade and ready to pack up. Dinners require menu planning and organized grocery shopping. I pretty much have those three meals under control during the school year. But I tend to fall short on after school and after sports snacks. But this year, I’m vowing to do better.

The Inspiration Board: creative party spotlight ~115~

Happy Friday everyone! I know everyone is saying this but… how the heck did we get to the middle of August so fast? The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for me. I was out of town, on jury duty and on a college visit with my son. So I have a lot of catching up to do – a neglected house, a wilting garden and some fun creative projects. While I try to catch my breath, I hope you have a few minutes to enjoy the projects in the spotlight this week.

As always, thank you to each and everyone of you for sharing your talents here on homework. Oh, and if you didn’t get a chance to stop by this week, here is what I shared.

Inkling: Inspiring Notebook Round Up

Blog Notebook Round Up CollageIt’s back to school time and that means it’s time for school supplies. I always loved getting brand new school supplies. I especially loved getting new notebooks, binders and composition books. All those blank pages ready for me to be neat and organized all year – or at least that what my intention was. Now a days, you can buy notebooks with pretty designs but it’s so much more fun to diy! Here’s a round up of some beautiful and inspiring notebooks.

The Inspiration Board: creative party spotlight ~114~

Happy Friday everyone! I was out of town last weekend and I’ve been playing catch up all week - so the week flew by extra fast for me. This weekend I’m going to try to get ahead because I may be on jury duty next week. I don’t know how it works where you live but we have a call in system. Every night for a week, I call in to see if I need to report. I’m all for doing my duty but I really wouldn’t mind hearing that I’m excused. Keep positive thoughts for me! School is starting soon and like all of you, I have a million and one things to do.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, visited, commented and shared your creativity last week. I appreciate each and every one of you. If you didn’t get a chance to stop by, here’s what I shared this week.

The beautiful gold and green crystal bracelet on the left is what I reviewed last year. This year I chose a sky and sea blue palette and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I’m also giving away a gift certificate to Novica so one lucky winner will get to explore the many beautiful treasures on the Novica site.

Accessories: Crystal and Bugle Bead Bracelet

Bugle Bead Bracelet via homework (9)When it comes to jewelry, I’m definitely a bracelet girl. Some people look great in big statement necklaces, fun earrings or blingy rings. But I love bracelets. I like to layer them and wear several at once – bangles, beads, stones – you name it.
