Have you ever decoupaged? Decoupaging has been around for a long time. It’s a fun, versatile craft that just got even better. Martha Stewart has introduced a new line of decoupage products that are amazing. Think fabric paper, lace and trims. The possibilities are endless! Want to decoupage a plate? The formulas are dishwasher safe. Decorating a tote bag? There’s an oil cloth formula that will make your tote bag super durable.

Etceteras: Homemade Fruit Fly Trap

Getting rid of fruit flies can be a problem. They hide, buzz around, annoy you and then hide again. You can try swatting at them but they’re hard to swat. I’ve tried different variations of fruit fly recipes over the years but they never worked for me. The fruit flies would seem interested in the different concoctions that I’d make but never be tempted enough to take a swan dive into the cup of liquid.

Hello everyone and happy Friday. We made it through the first week of school in our house. My son has embarked on his senior year of high school and let me tell you, it went by at warp speed. One minute you’re walking them into pre-school or kindergarten and the next – just like a movie on fast forward – it’s the last year and then he’ll be off to college. Can we have a group hug?

Thank you… and while we’re all hugging it out, here’s what I shared this week.

ETCETERAS: White & Ecru Lace Stenciled Bottle

Spray painting a wine bottle is such a fun and easy craft project and the results are instantly gratifying. For this project, I added some pretty lace detail and I love how it turned out.

FRESH LOOK: Painted Colander {pops of yellow}

Fall is around the corner but for now I’m hanging on to summer. I’ve been into yellow lately – it’s so bright and cheery and I’ve added little pops of yellow here and there in my kitchen.

Back to school time means quick and easy meal choices. Breakfast needs to be readily available for those frenzied mornings. Lunches need to be preplanned or even premade and ready to pack up. Dinners require menu planning and organized grocery shopping. I pretty much have those three meals under control during the school year. But I tend to fall short on after school and after sports snacks. But this year, I’m vowing to do better.

Happy Friday everyone! I know everyone is saying this but… how the heck did we get to the middle of August so fast? The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for me. I was out of town, on jury duty and on a college visit with my son. So I have a lot of catching up to do – a neglected house, a wilting garden and some fun creative projects. While I try to catch my breath, I hope you have a few minutes to enjoy the projects in the spotlight this week.

It’s back to school time and that means it’s time for school supplies. I always loved getting brand new school supplies. I especially loved getting new notebooks, binders and composition books. All those blank pages ready for me to be neat and organized all year – or at least that what my intention was. Now a days, you can buy notebooks with pretty designs but it’s so much more fun to diy! Happy Friday everyone! I was out of town last weekend and I’ve been playing catch up all week - so the week flew by extra fast for me. This weekend I’m going to try to get ahead because I may be on jury duty next week. I don’t know how it works where you live but we have a call in system. Every night for a week, I call in to see if I need to report. I’m all for doing my duty but I really wouldn’t mind hearing that I’m excused. Keep positive thoughts for me! School is starting soon and like all of you, I have a million and one things to do.

Accessories: Crystal and Bugle Bead Bracelet

When it comes to jewelry, I’m definitely a bracelet girl. Some people look great in big statement necklaces, fun earrings or blingy rings. But I love bracelets. I like to layer them and wear several at once – bangles, beads, stones – you name it.

I made some covered buttons and some combination covered buttons. They aren’t truly vintage because I made them but the metal button caps and backs are The Original Prims Cover Your Own Buttons.
