I have a love / hate relationship with shorts. I live in Southern California. Shorts are a wardrobe staple at last six months out of the year. But at a certain age, it gets difficult to find shorts that aren’t ridiculous. There are the teeny tiny shorts designed for an 18-year old with an inseam of 3 inches – total fabric to sew these shorts is about a 1/4 yard. There are age-appropriate shorts that either need ironing or not as fashionable as I like, or elastic-waist granny shorts. But cue the music - I recently found a pair of shorts that I love and had to share them with you.

GOOD TASTE: Roasted Tomato Salsa
Sadly, I didn’t have the best tomato crop this year. The tomatoes looked good but they didn’t have that home grown amazing taste and they were a tad on the mushy side. I was disappointed because I love fresh salsa and fresh thin sliced tomatoes on my sandwiches.

ETCETERAS: Sea Glass Succulent Bowl
It wouldn’t be summer if I didn’t create some type of beachy coastal décor piece and this one is a quick and easy. The sea glass is from a floral arrangement I received years ago. The vase was filled with these beautiful glass chips and of course I washed and saved them.

WEEKEND INSPIRATION: Summer Color Burst
TGIF everyone! We did again. We crafted, sewed, baked, decorated, diy’d and inspired each other through another week. We’re right in the middle of summer so I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend. I’m hoping to tackle a bedroom bureau makeover that I’m excited about. We’ll see how much I get done. In the meantime, enjoy this burst of summer color that is totally inspiring me right now. What do you think about these Fiesta, Mediterranean, and bright and bold colors?

PRETTY PLEASE: Mod Podge Make Up Container
Happy Friday everyone. Yesterday I shared my homemade Green Tea Toner and today I want to show you how I made this cute travel container for the toner. I started with an empty loose powder container. I save them because they’re so perfect for holding small items and great for travel. Use them for your earrings and rings, medicine, or even a small amount of hair product.

PRETTY PLEASE: Homemade Green Tea Travel Toner
I’ve always had very oily skin which is a curse and a blessing. The natural oils do seem to help ward off wrinkles but I’m forever blotting my skin. For years I stopped using facial toner but as my skin ages, I find myself using it again. It seems to help combat the oiliness without drying my skin too much.

EXTRA CREDIT: Coastal Table Setting
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Faultless/Bon Ami Company for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
It’s always fun putting together a themed table setting. The icing on the cake is a crisp white linen napkin. When you’re going to all the much trouble to make your table extra special, you want your napkins to look their best.

The Inspiration Board: Spotlight 213 & Inspiring Summer Sherbert Colors
Hello friends! If you’re here in the U.S., I hope you had a fantastic Fourth of July weekend. The holiday weekend was also the end of my weeklong staycation so it’s back to work (at my day job) for me. I got a lot done during my week off including having family and friends over on the Fourth. I never did make it to the chaise lounge with a tall cool drink and a magazine during the week. But, oh well, it was still nice.
A huge thank you to all of you that shared projects on The Inspiration Board last week. The party had been dwindling but was back on an upswing last week. Hooray! For those who haven’t had a chance to pop over lately, here’s what I’ve shared recently.

DRESS CODE: What I Wore {Business Travel Clothes for 50+}
Today I’m sharing a really different post with you. I love fashion and accessories but I rarely post pictures of myself or share things that I wear. I recently was away for a week-long business trip for my day job as a senior marketing manager and documented my outfits. I work remotely from my home office and was traveling to the corporate office for the first time. I planned (shopped) for this trip for a long time because it was a packed schedule with meetings, dinners and more meetings.
As you can see from my post title, I’m in the 50+ age group (eeeep how did that happen?) so I don’t want to dress too young but I also don’t want to dress matronly. So here are the outfits I wore and a few tips that I learned for my next trip in a few months.

ACCESSORIES: DIY Shell Magnifying Make Up Mirror
For a long time now, I’ve relied on a magnifying mirror in my bathroom to apply my make up. Funny how the regular mirror seems so far away the older I get. In my bathroom, I have a nice swing arm magnifying mirror but I also have a variety of handheld versions. I found this small 4 inch mirror in one of my make up bags and decided to give it a little facelift.
