Compound butter seems to be very popular right now. I’ve been seeing gorgeous blends in magazines and online. Compound butter is a mixture of butter and, well, anything you choose. Common blends are herbs, chives, honey and the version I made, brown sugar & cinnamon.

Whatever type of compound butter you choose to make will come together very easily. Start with good quality butter and let it soften to room temperature. Spread it on a piece of parchment paper and add the brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll the parchment paper so that the butter forms a cylinder. Place in the refrigerator to harden.

Once your butter is hardened you can tie off the ends of the parchment paper and use it as is.

If you want to use the compound butter as a gift, you can spoon it into a mason jar or butter crock.

The Brown Sugar & Cinnamon butter can be used on toast, biscuits, pancakes, waffles or anything else you like a little sweet.

The day I made this butter was about 90 degrees. I had to work really fast because everything was melting. But even the melting mess left on the parchment paper looks yummy to me.
One last picture before everything completely melted and I got the butter back in the fridge. Compound butter… easy, yummy and a nice homemade gift item.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Great idea, Carolyn! This really would make a great gift, maybe with a loaf or batch of homemade bread or muffins.
ReplyDeleteYum! I'll definitely be making some of this. I came over from the share list at Bloggertunities, and I'll be sharing this on my Fri Faves post today. Thank you for the recipe.
