I wasn’t sure if I should call this a pomander ball or kissing ball. A pomander ball typically is made of fragrant materials such as; flowers, oranges or spices and was originally carried as an aromatic scent. A kissing ball is made of holly, greens or mistletoe. Kissing balls originated in Victorian times to encourage modest ladies to give or receive a kiss or embrace.

My holiday ball is made of fabric flowers and gold berries. I’m leaning more toward the kissing ball since it will be hung for holiday décor.
To make this kissing ball, I started with a small styrofoam ball and glued on fabric flowers. The flowers are made out of white quilt batting and I used the same method to make the flowers that I used on my paper flower wreath and tacks. I was going to use white felt but I liked the fluffiness of the batting. I added a string and gold berries.
This kissing ball is ready to stand under.
