Like many crafters this season, I picked up some black crows at the dollar store. These guys are a crafters dream. For only a dollar each, you can adorn just about anything.
I’ve seen these black crows on wreaths, pumpkins, branches, under bell jars and just about everything – each one looking spectacularly spooky!
I had several ideas for these crows but decided to make a fall garland out of paper that I had on hand. For this garland I used a a circle paper punch and glued them to string. Since the garland tends to flip around, I used a front and back for each circle so the string wouldn’t show.
The crows were perfect to hold each end of the garland. I mounted the crows onto a white tile for weight and glued the garland ends to the beaks.
I added a few nuts in a votive and a weathered copper urn along with the black flowers I posted about last week.
I think he’s quite happy to be out of the dollar store bin and on my tabletop.
How about you? Did you find these crows at your local dollar store? How did you decorate with them?
