Inkling: ombré fall wreath

I’m loving all the fall wreaths I’ve been seeing lately - burlap, acorns and beautiful fall leaves.

I’ve also been wanting to make something with an ombré effect so I put together this paper leaf wreath.

The leaves are made out of writing paper that has been coffee stained. To stain your paper, layer several sheets of paper in a tray or baking pan and drizzle coffee over the paper. Let the coffee bleed onto the edges for the darker leaves.

Once the paper is dry, cut out several leaves. You’ll want some leaves all brown, some speckled and some almost all white.

Start gluing your leaves onto your wreath form. Going clockwise, I started with the darkest leaves and gradually ended up with the all white leaves.

You can get this same effect using varying shades of colored paper.

The definition of ombré is having colors or tones that shade into each other —often used on fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark.

It’s also a great way to use up your morning coffee.

  3. Nicely and cleverly done! The colors are so subtle and clean. This is a great alternative to the super saturated fall colors out there now.
