Celebrations: father’s day fire starter kit

Now that we’ve gone from indoor fireplace to outdoor fire pit weather, what better gift for dad than a mini fire starter kit.

Sure those long butane lighters are handy but there’s something about starting a fire the old fashioned way with newspaper, twigs and matches that makes you feel all rustic.

Father’s Day is coming up and this fire starter kit is easy to make and very easy on the wallet. Gather a few twigs and shredded newspaper and bundle them with some twine.

Add a few match boxes - I covered mine with picnic patterned paper. Place your items in a box nestled in dried moss. You can include more items like, grilling spices and ingredients for s’mores.

Dad will have all the items handy to start the next fire pit, barbeque or camp fire.
