Be My Guest: malia of yesterday on tuesday

Hi friends,

I'm away for awhile but I have a lineup of wonderful guests who will be sharing some of their favorite projects. The link party will still be on for tomorrow but features will be a little delayed.

Kicking off this guest series is one of the sweetest bloggers around -  Malia from Yesterday on Tuesday. Malia has a wonderful blog full of crafts, food and other fun things.  Here's how Malia describes herself and Yesterday on Tuesday.

Art is an important part of my life. Much like my morning cup of coffee, if I don't get my art fix, I get cranky! I literally need to be creating or appreciating it on a daily basis. There are so many places to find inspiration: in crafts, design, painting, sewing, style... in illustration, photography and typography... in pieces that hang in a gallery and projects that are displayed in children's classrooms. It's all art to me.

My favorite types of projects are those that involve up-cycling-- rescuing something from the recycling or trash bin and transforming it into something beautiful and useful.

Have you caught in to Mason Jar MANIA? Me too. I love how versatile Mason Jars are for crafting and organizing (and even recipes). But you can end up with a surplus of Mason Jar Lids sometimes... so here's an idea on what you can do with them, just in time for the 4th of July... Rustic Tic Tac Toe!

Measure the jam jar lid to cover with paper. Glasses make great templates or use a circle cutter. This one is the Custom Cutting System from Creative Memories. I think it could probably be considered *vintage* but it still works great. You need two sheets of patterned paper. The polka dot paper is from Canvas Corp and the navy stars is from October Afternoon. The red and white gingham is from Martha Stewart. I made two sets of game pieces.

Use Modge Podge to adhere the paper to the lid.

Make a grid using washi tape (or duct tape would work well too).

Use a dot of hot glue on the back of each lid to secure a magnet. Pop into the frame and you're done.

Patriotic Tic Tac Toe.

Grab a snack and you're set.
