Upcycling: fall vase

I’m starting to think ahead and prepare a few things for fall.

I’ve been saving this brown bottle and thought it would make a nice vase. I used Plaid’s new Martha Stewart stencils and paints to create the pinecone.

Note: I don’t have a lot of experience stenciling and didn’t use the special adhesive type stencil made especially for glass and round surfaces. The stenciled edges probably would have been crisper if I had.

I’m still happy with the pretty pinecone and had these nice eucalyptus pods to use in the vase.

Since the vase was brown I wanted to lighten up the pods a little and gave them a little white wash with paint thinned with water.

I wasn’t quite ready to give up summer but just looking at these pods has me ready to head into fall.

  1. Such a great idea to whitewash the pods! I've been saving brown and green bottles for about a month now to do something (I don't know what) with them for fall so thanks for the inspiration.

  4. I love the touch added by whitewashing them. So pretty! It's feeling like fall where I am, crazy how fast summer went by this year.
