Etceteras: getting ready for fall

I’m really trying to get in the mood for fall. But it’s really hard to get motivated when it’s still so hot outside. It’s sort of like shopping for sweaters when it’s 90 degrees outside.

Fall Inspiration (2)
I did find some autumn inspiration in my garden. This Sun Gold Cherry Tomato plant was a mid-summer gift and just starting to produce pretty orange tomatoes. Depending on how ripe they are, the tomatoes range from green, to light orange to deep orange-orange. The colors definitely feel like fall.

To get me even more in the autumn mood, I put together a little inspiration book with fall pictures from magazines and catalogs. I love the splash of blue in these photos which cools off the warm autumn colors.

Autumn doesn’t have to be all orange, red and yellow. These blues and greens are so pretty and I paired the photo with coordinating swatches.

Some new fall fabric leaves I bought for a future project. I’d love to make the vase and cascading leaf arrangement in this photo. So pretty.

A beautiful napkin and napkin ring. Pretty neutrals are perfect for fall.

My autumn inspiration booklet is made out of brown paper grocery bags trimmed down to small sheets of paper. All the photos and bits of paper and fabric make up a pages in the book. I clipped the pages together rather than binding it since I’m planning to add more project ideas and magazine pictures in the next few weeks. Hopefully, the weather will cool down and it will really start feeling like fall.

How about you? Are you ready for fall or are you hanging on to the last days of summer?

Thanks for visiting.

P.S.

Getting ready for fall means fall shopping. And since fall is in the air the Tea Collection has the most adorable new clothes to get you ready! For girls, I love the Skola Stripe Empire Dress!  A super cute comfortable dress that has loose, graceful sleeves. The bold stripes were inspired by mid-century modern design. For babies, the Nordic Blooms Romper looks comfy and cozy. A big shape that makes a statement in the boldest colors. A great staple for fall. Be sure to shop the super stylish Fall Collection because fall is definitely in the air.
