Etceteras: painted feathers

Lately, I’ve seen some pretty painted feathers on Pinterest and other sites. The edges are painted in cheery colors and I love the effect. I mentally filed away the idea.

The other day, these two feathers were on our back patio. There were some smaller fluffy feathers flying around too so I’m guessing there was some sort of bird brawl. These feathers look like they’re from a Mockingbird which are common in our yard. Mockingbirds are pretty fierce and yes, they mock you if you try to shoo them away.

I gave these Mockingbird feathers a little makeover with metallic paint.

A piece of embroidery thread ties them together and a couple of glue dots holds them this mat board.

All framed up and ready to enjoy. You never know what’s going to land in your backyard.

Thanks for stopping by.

  4. What wonderful "found" artwork! My husband's hobby is watching and feeding the birds in our yard. I often find feathers, eggs, etc. This is a great idea of what to do with some of those finds. Thanks for the inspiration!
