ETCETERAS: Stash Buster Fall Wreath

Stash Buster Fall Wreath via homework (6)I’ve been dragging my feet about fall décor in my house but when it’s sweltering outside and you have no air conditioning (uh, we live by the coast), it’s hard to wrap your head around pies baking in the oven, pumpkins and fall foliage. One of the things on my list was to go to the craft store and pick up some supplies for a fall wreath. I had a few ideas in mind but as I continued to drag my feet about running this errand, I started digging through my seasonal floral supply box.

Stash Buster Fall Wreath via homework (3)I found all kinds of goodies. Several bunches of faux pussy willow and berries.

Stash Buster Fall Wreath via homework (4)Lots and lots of seed pods.

Stash Buster Fall Wreath via homework (5)Bags of feathers.

Stash Buster Fall Wreath via homework (2)Real dried leaves from last year. How they survived squashed in that box I’ll never figure out.

Stash Buster Fall Wreath via homework (7)I started assembling my wreath and even used a recycled wreath form that I had made out wire last year. I loaded on the berries and pussy willow. Added the seed pods and then used twigs, raffia and moss to fill in the bare spots.

Stash Buster Fall Wreath via homework (9)It’s not what I had originally envisioned but I’m feeling very satisfied using up some of my craft stash. I think I’ll challenge myself to “stash bust” more often. Have you ever made a stash buster project? I’d love to hear about it or send me a picture. It would be fun to do a round up of stash buster projects.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Carolyn, it is beautiful. Occasionally, I challenge myself to do scrapbook pages with just the scraps left from other pages. It's amazing what the imagination can come up with and so satisfying to use up what you have... Thanks for the inspiration of using what I have on hand for this fall...Have a great week. Cathy

  4. What a coincidence! I did a quick stash buster this morning. My porch wreath transformed from summer white grapevine with pink flowers to ivory grapevine with fall mums, orange berries and a cute little stuffed scarecrow!

  7. Now I am completely inspired! I actually use my stash (and re-use it) a lot, but I'm wondering if I have enough "stuff" to make one more "something" for my kitchen window.....hmmm? Your wreath looks beautiful!
