Hello friends! Today I’m sharing this quick and inexpensive gift idea. A Sewing Kit Gift Box.
Not only did my son move to college recently but I have many, many friends moving their kids into dorm rooms too. As we gathered up our lists and compared notes of what we were getting them for their rooms, I realized that none of us thought of a sewing kit. That’s probably because not many of our kids know how to even sew on a button. Regardless, I thought it would be fun to send off a few of these cute sewing kits to some of my friend’s kids. I’m planning on making a guy version too that’s not quite as girly looking.
To make a little sewing kit gift box, start with a plain cardboard gift box. Cover the top in fabric and tuck the edges onto the inside of the box and use craft glue to adhere.
For this box, I used a piece of a vintage tablecloth that’s now a cutter.
Line the inside of the box with felt.
I purchased an inexpensive sewing kit and added a few buttons. I may add a few more safety pins and perhaps some pieces of stick on velcro.
Isn’t it cute? Perfect to tuck away in a dorm room or an any occasion gift idea.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
P.S.
So cute!!!

ReplyDeleteGreat tips! This would also work if you needed to take in a skirt that was too big, which I’m often trying to do for my daughters!
