The Dirt: faux metal plant sticks

I came across the most amazing faux metal wall art at Suzy’s Artsy Crafty Sitcom.  Of course, I had to try to make some. Here’s a shout out to Suzy because mine are in the trash.

I did have a few strips of the paper towel rolls left so I decided to make one last attempt. I curled the paper towel roll strips and glued them onto a stick to make plant sticks. And like Suzy’s wall art, I spray painted them using black metallic paint.

If you want to give someone a plant as a gift, these would make nice gift tag holders. Just tie your gift tag to the plant stick or use them with herb plants to identify your herbs.

I’m glad I didn’t give up and throw everything in the trash. If you first do not succeed…

  6. I love this upcycle! Super cute idea. Let's face it I saw Suzy's work and I've come to the conclusion that she's super human! I'm doing something similar on my blog soon. 8)

  8. I think your plant stakes came out wonderfully! Not superhuman here...just ridiculously addicted to small details. My husband rolls his eyes and leaves me alone when I get all involved in a project.

I'm just so thrilled to see other folks trying it! It totally makes my day to know that my crazy ideas inspire!
