I finally have a few of my vintage sewing notions displayed thanks to the FloraCraft Foam for the Holidays promotion. FloraCraft is the maker of the original and genuine STYROFOAMTM Brand Foam. If you’re a crafter or florist, then most likely you have used STYROFOAMTM.
Of course, the beauty of STYROFOAMTM is that you can poke things into it making it the perfect base for a memo board or display board.
Start with your piece of STYROFOAMTM and choose to a piece of fabric to cover it with. I went through my fabric stash several times and just couldn’t decide what I wanted to use. There was fabric everywhere and then I spied it - an old t-shirt that I had been saving because of pretty embellishments it had around the neckline.
To adhere the t-shirt, I used craft glue and my preference is Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue. I only glued the sides and back of my board for this project.
The embellishment was around the neckline of my t-shirt so I strategically place the t-shirt on the board so that the neckline didn’t show. Once the fabric glued down, use sewing pins to keep it in place while it’s drying.
I’ll miss this t-shirt. The flowers were so pretty but I’m thrilled that it will live on in the form of a display board.
After the fabric is dry, remove the sewing pins and add note, memos, or items to display. You can use extra long embellished pins to display your items or even toothpicks.
I just love vintage notions and I couldn’t be happier with my new STYROFOAMTM display board.
