Fresh Look: beaded edge frame

It’s easy to give a frame a brand new look with just a few simple supplies. This white frame with a beaded edge had very humble beginnings.

A cheap pink frame and a leftover Christmas bead garland.

Start by gluing your bead garland to the outer edge of your frame. I used a glue gun so that the beads would stick instantly and stay straight. Just be prepared to spend some time picking off all the glue gun threads.

Once you think you’ve removed all the glue gun threads, spray paint your frame in your desired color. Amazingly, glue gun threads kept appearing with every coat of spray paint. I think I finally got them all.

I like how the frame looks in this black and white shot, so I may convert the framed picture to black and white. Yes, that is my son many, many years ago. Time sure flies!

Thanks for visiting.

  4. This is such a simple idea with big impact. I read that you can put your piece in the freezer and the glue gun threads will just snap right off. Haven't tried it yet.

  11. great idea - I think I read a trick from Craftaholics Anonymous about blasting your glue gun project with a hair dryer and it'll zap all the strings away?
