Happy Halloween everyone! Today’s project is a recycled soda bottle birdfeeder. And since today is Halloween, once you’re done with your pumpkins you can save the stems, dry them out and make a fun pumpkin birdfeeder to enjoy through fall.
To make this birdfeeder you need a large 2 liter plastic bottle. You know, the kind the sugary drinks come in. I specifically bought a bright red sugary drink because the bottle had straight sides as opposed to the bottles that indent for gripping. I brought the bright red sugary drink home and told my son he could drink it because I needed the bottle for a craft. He was very happy. I was happy because I got my bottle and the birds will be happy with their feeder.
Start by cutting the top off the bottle and cut a circular door for the birds. Tape off the edges so that they aren’t sharp. Punch two small holes near the top of the bottle and add a wire hanger. I covered my bottle in fabric leaves using hot glue. Use a low temperature glue gun because very hot glue will melt the bottle. Keep adding leaves working around the door until you reach the top.
Once you’ve added all your leaves, add your dried pumpkin stem to the top.
Add some bird seed and hang outside.
I hope the birds like it!
Happy Halloween and thanks for visiting!
I link at the wonderful parties listed here and
VEry cool! I think the real pumpkin top gives it so much style!
