The Chinese New Year is on January 31st and this year is the year of the horse. I thought it would be fun to make some paper fortune cookies to celebrate the event.

Paper Fortune Cookies via homework | carolynshomework.comBack when I first started this blog in 2010, I made these black and white paper fortune cookies. It’s a quick and easy project and you can get creative with your own custom fortunes.

With your index finger positioned in the middle, bring the remaining edges together to form the cookie shape. It’s hard to describe and I didn’t take pictures of the process since I needed both hands. Here’s a great tutorial with step by step photos and instructions. I followed her tutorial exactly except instead of tape to hold the cookie together, I used a dab of hot glue.

And, as I mentioned, this is the year of the horse. The animals repeat as shown on this wheel.
