I actually wasn’t sure what to call this project. It’s a piece of wood with twine wrapped around it and paper clips. Let’s go with Twine Wrapped Clip Holder.

Now that I’m working full time and crafting at night and on the weekends I really need to be on top of my game. There’s no time to slack off because I’m uninspired. I wanted to make a small inspiration board that would take up too much space. I found the perfect solution with this piece of wood. I can hang it anywhere, even on the edge of shelf.

Here’s where this all started. I bought these old spools of knit and crochet cotton at the thrift store. I thought I could use the string on tags and what not.

The peach and coral string caught my eye because I thought it would make a pretty ombre pattern if I used it to wrap something. The wrapping actually didn’t take that long. I cut workable lengths of string and wrapped so I could move faster than if I wrapped from the original spool A dab of glue on the back of the wood kept the ends in place.

The colors turned out even prettier than I had hoped.

Once I was done wrapping I decided to use paperclips on my board. The silver paper clips didn’t go with the peach tones so I colored the clips with different shades of gold Sharpie.

I used photos of some of my past projects, some craft supplies I want to use soon, like those yummy pieces of ribbon and inspirational messages.

I love the gold glitter monogram. It makes me feel special!

What keeps you inspired?
Thank you so much for stopping by.

I really like this idea, just one question. How did you attach the paperclips?
ReplyDeleteHi Marilee, I used permanent glue on the back side of the wrapped holder. I measured out where I wanted the paper clips to go and glued them down. E6000 is a good permanent glue but there are lots of options.

ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, see my response above. Thanks for visiting. :)
DeleteI love this, Absolutely adorable and really space efficient.
ReplyDeleteThis is so stunning! I love that you made it pretty AND functional. Please come share at our link party going on now. http://www.delineateyourdwelling.com/2014/07/link-it-or-lump-it-party-number-48-and.html
ReplyDeleteI love how the variegated crochet cotton came out, even nicer than if you had crocheted with it!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for unique Inspiration Boards online for weeks, while I collect ideas for my own project. Today I wasn't looking, but stumbled across yours anyway. Isn't it funny when that happens?? I love the compact design, and how the peachy coral verigation manages to be sweet and kitschy all at once! As I collect ideas and then finally create my own Mood Board, I want to post images that inspire me on my blog. Mind if I feature yours (linking back to your original post of course!)?
ReplyDeleteHi Victorian, Yes that would be fine as long as it's one image with a link back to my post. Thanks!
