Sew and Tell: vintage chenille no-sew stockings

I love vintage linens. In fact, a long time ago – in a galaxy far away, I used to make and sell pillows using vintage fabrics.




I’ve had this vintage chenille for years. Someone gave it to me when I was making pillows. The colors are amazing and perfect for the holidays. It’s been on my mind for awhile now and I’ve been wanting to make new Christmas stockings with it.


I haven’t had time to find fabric to make the stocking with, so when I spied these plain white stockings at the dollar store, I thought… why not?


And since I was cheating on the stocking, I decided to really speed things along and make this a no-sew craft. I cut the vintage chenille to fit the existing stocking cuff with enough excess to fold under and glue gunned it together.

The tassel was already on the white stocking but I added a jingle bell to each stocking.

I still have yards of the vintage chenille since it was originally a bedspread. One day, I’ll find some beautiful contrasting fabric and make proper stockings but these work perfectly for now.

I can’t wait to fill the stockings with goodies tonight. Finally, we have a matched set of Christmas stockings.
