Until now! Have you heard of Maison Blanche La Craie furniture paint? They asked me to try out their paint and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. The hard part was choosing the color. It came down to Magnolia which is the whitest shade and Vanille which is a creamy almost pale yellow shade. I went with Vanille.
Here’s the before and after. The pine hutch was one of my first furniture purchases when I was a young, single working girl. It was during the pine furniture craze and is a reproduction piece. What do you think? I’m thrilled with the results and I’m almost shocked every time I walk in the room. The room looks bigger and brighter.
This paint is amazing. I painted my entire hutch with one quart of paint. It’s an extremely thick calcium carbonate water-based paint and dries to a beautiful velvety finish.
Here’s a before, during and after shot. In the middle picture, I started with one coat of paint mixed with a little bit of water and then finished up with a second coat as seen on the right. The entire project took me less than a day.
Once the paint was dry, I used Maison Blanche Antique Wax in clear to seal the piece. The wax glides on and melts into the paint bringing out all the natural beauty and a subtle shine. And since the paint color I used was Vanille, I thought it would be fun to prominently display my Pure Vanilla cookbook.
Several shades of white dishes and a few pops of yellow for Easter are sitting pretty on my hutch and making my dining room a much brighter and happier space.
Once the Easter season is over, I may change out the yellow accent pieces for another color. Maybe aqua or robin’s egg blue? It’s going to fun playing around with accent colors.
I’m so happy with the results and I’m now a huge fan of Maison Blanche La Craie furniture paint. Do you want to try the Maison Blanche line? Maison Blanche is giving away an amazing prize package – a sampler of one of each of their products.

Carolyn it's so beautiful. Modern, fresh and truly enhances your dish collection. It's stunning now that it's not so 'woody' (but I do love pine too!). Great choice.
