Have you ever made a yarn octopus? I remember making these when I was a little girl. I haven’t seen one in years and recently saw one on Martha Stewart’s Craft of the Day.

It brought back such memories and I couldn’t wait to make this fun childhood craft. I dug through my yarn stash and decided on a light blue octopus.

Instead of braiding the legs, I tied them off in sections using multi-colored yarn. The eyes are made out of vintage crocheted buttons and for some reason I added a mop of hair to this octopus.

Since this is not a baby proof toy, it would need to be placed up on a shelf for tiny ones. Kids old enough to braid or work with yarn will have a blast creating an octopus. Purchased googly eyes are always a hit and add a lot of character.

OK, we all know the stuffed animal seal is stealing the show but my silly little octopus doesn’t mind.
Thanks for visiting.
