Hello sweet friends of Carolyn and her inspiring Homework. I am so excited to be here today. Carolyn is one of my favorite bloggers and I always find myself oohing and aahing over her lovely creations and beautiful photography. For those of you who don't know me {and that's probably most of you!}, I'm Mary Beth, the author of Cupcakes and Crinoline where I share recipes, crafts, my love of vintage style and easy, small DIY projects. Today I wanted to share one of my favorite oh-so-easy to make vintage crafts with you~ this Vintage Pin Cushion.
My inspiration for this pincushion was from an older issue of Romantic Country Magazine. This is a design by Dawn Edmonson at The Feathered Nest. I went to my favorite antique store and found the beautiful silver plated monogrammed creamer and used that as my starting point. I had everything else on hand.
I first stuffed some tissue paper into the bottom of the creamer to take up space.
Next, I cut a small square of white broadcloth, gathered the edge with a gathering stitch, placed a small amount of fiberfill in the center, pulled the stitching tightly and knotted it off.
I then hot glued some antique lace trim from an old table runner around the pin cushion.
I next placed the pouf of fabric and lace into my creamer hot gluing it into place. I used a few of my favorite ribbons to make a simple bow, stitching it in the center and attaching some buttons I had saved from my Grandmother' s button box. I added some Dritz straight pins, a charm that I had on hand and some vintage hat pins and that was it.
A big, heartfelt thank you to Carolyn for allowing me to visit with you here today.
I think that’s the prettiest pin cushion I’ve ever seen. I’m going to be on the lookout for a vintage creamer so I can make one for myself. You’ll find all kinds of pretty things and great ideas over at Cupcakes and Crinoline.
Thank you so much for sharing Mary Beth!
Thanks for visiting.
Thank you so much for having me as your guest today, Carolyn ~ I am honored!
