My favorite napkin rings are these silver napkin rings and these capiz shell napkin rings. I tend to mix them together on a tray or basket but I needed a few more. I wanted to incorporate the white but slightly yellow look of the capiz shell and the vintage tarnished silver look.
Of course my favorite way to make napkin rings is to use paper towel tubes. I’ve made several over the years but they were seasonal and I wanted some I could use for any occasion.
Start by cutting your paper towel tubes to the size that you want. To get the yellowed look I used Antique Mod Podge and tissue paper. Just cut and wrap white tissue paper around each tube and coat with the Antique Mod Podge.
Once the tissue paper is dry wrap a piece of lace around each tube and seal with another coat of Mod Podge. I used Matte Clear for this coat. Rig a drying rack and use clothes pins to hold the lace ends together. Let thoroughly dry.
I’m going to stash them away until my next large gathering… you know, because I’m not hosting Thanksgiving this year!
Thanks for visiting.
Sweet idea - pinning this for the future! Fist bumps indeed: we're not hosting either! :)
