Hello friends! Wedding season is here and I have an easy wedding idea that is budget friendly but on-trend. Wedding Birdseed to toss at the bride and groom. Tossing rice at newlyweds comes from an ancient tradition. It symbolized abundance and fertility. In recent years it was rumored that the rice left on the ground was harmful to birds. I’ve heard that this isn’t true but birdseed has become a popular replacement and I’m sure it’s much better for the birds and critters that clean up our mess.

Making these is so simple but you need to plan ahead and save your eggshells.

Once you have enough eggshells, clean them thoroughly in hot soapy water and set them on a paper towel to dry.

Use the egg cartons to make a base for the egg shell to sit in.

Fill each egg shell with birdseed. I used wild birdseed and love how pretty it looks.

Add a feather or small flower to decorate each egg cup.

It’s best to assemble these at the location they are going to be used. I had birdseed everywhere and I just moved them from one room to another. Just have everything ready and you can quickly fill these using a small scoop, like one you would use for coffee grounds.

Once you’re ready to shower the newlyweds, each guest can grab an egg and “gently” toss the seeds at them. Fun!
Thank you so much for stopping by.
P.S.
