They’re a nice size for the spices that I tend to buy in bulk and which usually come in huge unattractive plastic containers.
Next up, I created some spice labels. I used a Word template for a standard sheet of labels. However, I printed them out on cardstock instead of label sheets. I knew if I used regular sticky labels, they would get dirty and messy looking in no time. My solution? I use clear shipping tape for a crystal clear seal.
Cut out the printed label from the cardstock. Cut a piece of shipping tape longer than the label. Lay the label onto the tape right side down. Trim the tape to about 1/4 inch around the label. Try not to touch the tape to avoid fingerprints. Press the tape onto your clean jar. Now you have a wipeable label.
You can embellish each jar with a bit of ribbon or twine.
Add your spices and you have a new set of pretty spice jars. Much better than those huge plastic containers.
P.S. - Grab the free printable labels here.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Great idea! I hate those plastic containers too! Do you happen to have a link to your printable labels? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice project! Functional and super cute too. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! I wish I were organized enough to do this...maybe someday. (found you on Link Party Palooza)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see that I am not the only one who has upcycled the Classico jars for spices. You know to remove the name off really good you can buy Acetone the stuff that's in nail polish remover and it will take the label off. It works good on jars that have that wax like label also. I think the Rustoleum on the tops looks very nice, it gives them the I belong in this kitchen look.
ReplyDeleteYou know i have been collecting little spice jars for ages they are too cute and handy to throw away i knew i'd fine a purpose for them! I grow alot of my own herbs i can do this and make them little gifts. Brilliant! Thanks for sharing with us for The Sunday Brunch Magazine, So nice to see you, Bel & Eliza x
