The New Year organizing continues! Doesn’t it feel good to make progress in the clutter battle? Last week I shared a round up of
recycled storage ideas and absolutely fell in love with a recycled cookie box idea by
Aunt Peaches. So as soon as I had an empty wax paper box I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

I have a LOT of Washi Tape. I was a contributor for a Washi Tape book and amassed quite a collection of pretty tape while creating fun Washi projects for the book. You can read about that journey
here. At one point I had all my tape on a tension rod but the rod wasn’t close enough to my craft table so all the Washi ended up in a drawer. Not pretty!

This wax paper box is the perfect size for Washi Tape. I simply covered the box in contact paper and then trimmed the edges.

And of course it comes complete with a roll for your tape. What I found was that different brands of Washi Tape have different size cores so not all them fit on the wax paper roll. Easy fix – slit your roll down the length of it and rewind it to a smaller diameter. Tape it securely and add your Washi Tape.

The serrated strip from the box is also perfect to cut your tape. Fantastic, right?

To keep the box closed, I used some stick on velcro tabs.

Some stick on glitter letters add a little fun. If you plan on making several of these and stack them, some labels on the front might work better.

You can use Washi Tape on so many projects. The patterns are irresistible it hard not be become a Washi hoarder.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
This is GENIUS, Carolyn! Now I just need my parchment paper to run out!!
ReplyDeleteThis is PERFECT!!! I just wish I had seen this before I bought a 'carousel' to put my washi tape in. That's OK as it didn't all fit...and I've got some 'boxes' coming available! Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThis idea is FABULOUS!!! I so have to do this for all of my washi tape!
ReplyDeleteGENIUS! I agree with Keri!

ReplyDeletePopping over from The Makers Link Up Party =) This is on my to do list. My washi currently lives in a big bag right now. Be sure to share your crafts & DIYs at Two Uses Tuesday (Mon 11pm EST to Fri 11pm EST) over at Sarah Celebrates if you don't already!

Oooooo, Thanks for the wonderful idea! Now how can I use all my wax paper? Sounds like a cookie day to me.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnother one of those "Why didn't I think of that!" things!
ReplyDeleteGlad Press 'n' Seal has roll core that is smaller and stronger. But its serrated tear edge is on the outside flap, so I'd still use the wax paper or foil box.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, just pinned it.

So clever! Would you believe I've never seen Washi tape in person?? Yeah, I know, I'm backward, right?? I have heard of it though! If I had some though, this would be a must-have. (Dropping in to pin from Blogging Fifty.)
