Last week I showed you my little Japanese Spring Garden Seedlings. I’ve been taking really good care of them and I’m so excited about the possibility of actually harvesting these yummy veggies. The seedlings are Kabocha, Japanese Eggplant and Japanese Cucumber. You can read more about these vegetables here.
Sometime yesterday, something got into my Japanese Cucumber plant and chewed off one of the biggest leaves. I decided it was time to transplant the little guys and protect them with some makeshift shelters. While I was planting a suspicious character starting crawling away. See mug shot above top right.
I carefully transplanted the three little plants into larger containers using Miracle-Gro. The little greenhouse shelters are made from soda pop bottles with the bottoms cut off. They will hopefully protect the seedlings from pests and at the same time help them grow by acting as a greenhouse. You can already see the condensation forming inside the bottle.
I know my little container garden isn’t going to win any awards for presentation but the plastic pots are easy to store once the vegetable season is over. I’m confident I’ve given these seedling the best possible start with the Moisture Control Potting Mix. Once they’re a little larger, I’ll feed the vegetables and my other plants with LiquaFeed All Purpose Plant Food Advance Starter Kit.
